Whisper to me Softly cover, and upcoming events.

I know I been absent from posting my weekly post of each week, but this usually happens when I get to college, and well between homework and writing three books, plus a short story. Well let’s just say I barely have time to even breath. However, I’m not here to ramble about my poor use of time managements skills. I’m here to show you guys the cover of Whisper to me Softly. This little short story follows the first book in The Shadows Saga, and sets up the opening world of the spin off series  tittle The Obsidian Saga set in the same world of the Shadows. I can only give you guys the cover for now, because I’m trying to give the description of the short story a good one in a way that I don’t want to spoil the first book and give much into the story. Anyhow, enough of me and enjoy the cover.

What lurks in the shadows may change the destiny of six young lives forever. That is, if they can survive at all. The Shadows: The Return Has Begun, the heart-pounding young adult debut novel by Alouy Martinez, is a tale of mystery, suspense, action, and romance that charts the perilous course of six young characters as their fates unfold, and their true identities are revealed as the formidable entities known as The Shadows. Dramatic, dark, and alluring, this enthralling work of fiction goes where no vampire or werewolf novel has ever gone before. The Shadows: The Return Has Begun shares the points of view of the six young characters as they journey together to Paris, France. They are Ashlenn Vandenhoff, Melinda Wadsworth, Darcy Roswell, Christopher De Groot, Kaden Worthington, and Justin Fraser. In Paris, each must grapple with his or her own inner demons. However, it soon becomes chillingly evident that someone is in bloodthirsty pursuit of them all. They soon thereafter realize their destiny as The Shadows, beings created over two thousand years ago to restore order to the unbroken rules of The Heavenly Laws. Upon their demise in 486 AD, a prophecy was born as they took their lives into their own hands. That prophecy marked their return. However this time, destiny won’t control them. At the onset of the novel, Ashlenn is having visions of her parents’ death, but she chooses to ignore them. As the novel shifts perspective from one character to the next, plots diverge, then intertwine again. Similarly, each of the characters in The Shadows brings into light his or her most hidden moments, only to face a destiny that may be even more terrifying yet. Will they overcome forces that are primed to wage deadly battle against them all? And can they face their own demons as they do? The Shadows: The Return Has Begun creates a new legion of deadly foes that rages through every gripping page of this wildly inventive, gripping new novel.

Before I start telling you how awesome this book cover is, let me tell you that I love this series. I read Incarnate during my Thanksgiving break last year, and ugh, it’s so amazing and new, and wonderful that words couldn’t begin to describe the writing, and world that Jodi Meadows created.

Now, look at this cover isn’t it amazing, and colorful. I love the spirit vibe of it. The sort of glow and beauty that surrounds Ana. The books are about souls reincarnating, and I can totally see the visual aspect of the cover related to the book. The serenity and beauty of the soul is shown clearly in Ana’s eyes, and the wonderful flower that surrounds them. In the last book and cover, her eyes were surrounded by a butterfly, and it related to the story. I can’t wait to see how this flower does as well. I need to read this book so bad. Also, I can’t help to notice that Ana seems to have grown from that innocent look in book one, to this cover. She seems more powerful and like she knows who she is now. Her face just says, yes I’m a new soul now what?

Do you love the cover as well and have you read Incarnate? Let me know in the comments.

Look at the two books together, can you see the amazing transformation that Ana seems to take. She looks like she has grown from that innocent look right? Click on the covers to buy them.

Indie Author Spotlight: M.R. Merrick

Indie Author Spotlight 2

M.R. Merrick is a Canadian writer and author of The Protector series, a young adult mash-up between urban and epic fantasy. Having never traveled, he adventures to far off lands through his imagination and in between cups of coffee. As a music lover and proud breakfast enthusiast, he’s usually found at the computer between a pair of headphones and in front of a large bowl of cereal.

Through several amazing indie authors, it took me a while to decide who would be in the spotlight this week. But after several considerations there was no doubt that M.R. Merrick had to be in this week’s spotlight. I find Merrick really inspiring. His work is amazing, I’ve read his first book Exiled and it’s amazing, defiantly a jewel of the Indie publishing world. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of his books. Now here are his books, go buy them.

The Protector Series

Book 1

Chase Williams is a demon hunter in the Circle, or at least he was supposed to be. On his fifteenth birthday, Chase stepped up to the altar to claim his elemental power, but it never came. Elemental magic is passed down to a hunter through the bloodline, but on Chase’s birthday, the bloodline stopped. Exiled without the Circle’s protection, Chase has spent two years trying to survive a world riddled with half-demons and magic. When he has a run in with a frightened and seemingly innocent demon, he learns the Circle’s agenda has changed: the Circle plans to unlock a portal and unleash pure-blood demons into the world. Vowing to stop them, and knowing he can’t do it alone, Chase forms a reluctant alliance with Rayna – a sexy witch with an attitude and a secret. In their attempt to stop them, Chase and Rayna find themselves in the middle of the Circle’s plan, leaving one of them to decide what their friendship is worth, and the others life depending on it.

The Protector Series

Book 2

by M.R. Merrick

Devastated by a terrible loss, Chase is trying to balance the life he’s been left with, a family he’s still getting to know, and power he never thought he’d have. He doesn’t understand why the Goddess has named him the Protector and granted him two gifts: the Mark, a tattoo that now covers his back, and the ring. But between getting interrogated by the Circle and psychic attacks from Riley, the Mark is the least of his concern. There’s a demon inside Rayna that’s fighting to be released, and it’s not her inner witch. It’s something else–a monster threatening to tear her apart. As Chase struggles to control his magic, his enemies are closing in. Everyone has staked a claim on his ring, and destroying it may be his only chance to stop Riley. But Chase must decide if stopping him is worth risking the lives of everyone he cares about, or if protecting the ring will be enough to save his world.

Book 3

by M.R. Merrick

After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems. Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father. Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates. Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made – especially regarding Rayna. One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past – sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.
